At the beginning of the 2009 academic year the Village of Life Academy (VOLA) opened her doors. The school building is on the same premises as the Village of Life. Children from Nursery, Kindergarten and Primary one to five (Primary six by the 2013 academic year) attend this school, initiated by George Achibra, to give the rescued children an opportunity to go to school. To ensure that the former child slaves will not suffer from stigmatization and to serve the community, the school is also open to children of Kete Krachi and its neighbouring communities. The school fee is very low, to give many parents the opportunity to send their children to VOLA.
At the start of the 2012 academic year the school commissioned a new four class room block, built besides the other class room block.
Presently about 525 children are attending the school.
VOLA wants to become an educational institution with high standards of education and besides a primary school it also wants to open a junior high school in the (near) future.

Wearing the school uniform is making the children proud. They  learn how to read and write, receive lessons in English and mathematics, in natural science, ICT, creative arts, in Twi (the local language) and religious & moral education. And of course they play sports.
The staff of VOLA is made up of experienced Ghanaian teachers and foreign teaching volunteers.

Unlike a lot of children in the Western part of the world, Ghanaian children love to go to school, especially the rescued ones.
“It is important to go to school and learn hard, because then you can become someone and help other people in the future.” (Joe, rescued in 2011)
